About

I have created art from as far back as I can remember. It helps that there are many artists in my life ~ with a mother who is a glass artist, a brother who is a special effects animator, an uncle who was an illustrator, another who is a photographer, an aunt who is an artist and art teacher, a grandmother who was a ceramicist & fiber artist, and grandfather who designed & built custom homes. Creativity was everywhere in my formative years.

The Art of Emery Erze

I honed my skills as a teen drawing all different types of genre -- from anime characters to photo realistic illustration. After numerous art courses, I began studies at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, continually painting and in search of my own unique style. More recently I worked with the Marin Art School, a classic impressionist studio.

In late 2011, I had invasive corrective spine surgery. The road to recovery has been long and arduous. From the depths of my pain I have had a rebirth of style in my art, literally overnight. Evolving from what felt comfortable and safe, to putting paint to canvas in expression of powerful and emotional abstracts. I let the canvas absorb my intense energy and mirror what I am feeling.

I am still in the process of healing which has helped me discover and shape this new direction in my work. I hope you enjoy my site and collection. Select paintings are for sale, please contact me! I also commission pieces.

I would like to extend a very “special thanks” to my two talented brothers, and my loving mother & father for always being there and supporting my dream.

Ever since I was a young kid

I've always been drawn to art and its many different styles & influences. I constantly thrive to surprise myself and evolve along side my work.
My inspiration comes from a variety of sources depending on my mood or surroundings.

BLOG

In my Blog, you will get to know me, hear about my struggles, and read some of my short stories. I may include art pieces that are not posted in My Work section. My Blog may also contain art done by other artists I find visually interesting, exciting and sometimes thought-provoking.

Under construction. Be back soon...

Something I always think about

People are also one of my favorite sources of inspiration. People that go against the grain and make a difference or change in the world,
they make their mark!

My Work

In this section you will find my most current work, as well as work in progress pieces. I use many different mediums and styles which will be exhibited here. You will see abstracts, portraits, and illustrations done in oils, acrylics, oil paint pens, oil pastels, cloth, metal-based paints, art markers, ink pens and pencil. My art is an ongoing journey...

Channeled Inspiration

Experiences in my life have sparked the creation of my art and music. The loss of my uncle, also an artist, illustrator & composer deeply affected me. So did the untimely death of my best friend, Sean. Our musical collaboration was the beginning of my original compositions. I’ve always been sensitive to energies & spirits, and continue to feel their influences.

Music

Being surrounded by amazing musical talent and the experimental instrumentals of my close friends & family at a such a young age made me thirst for composing my own musical expression. I've been inspired by instrumentals such as Vangelis & Tangerine Dream.

Piano

These are piano pieces I've been composing and fine-tuning over time. I find that my musical expressions flow from my heart and from my pain. For your consideration, these pieces are played on a 1939 Brambach grand piano and others on a Kurzweil keyboard. Hope you enjoy hearing them!

My first memories of music

Are the rich sound of my grandparent's concert grand piano. Soon I discovered I had the ability to play by ear! I put those two things together and found myself in a whole new universe of exploration and musical expression on the keyboard! Ever since that moment I've found solice in plucking out the notes of my favorite tunes and composing my own songs.

Please feel free to contact me about the acquisition of any of my art pieces or the licensing of my music. I look forward to getting feedback and input from those who visit my site.
